There are no 'brahmins in India

There are no 'brahmins in the country. There were very few during the reign of muslims. The Varna system was destroyed with the end of hindu rule in India. Only caste system remained and it resulted in pauperization of the weakest strata. Here is the Smriti - A Brahman who has never received the purificatory rites prescribed from the day of birth, who neglects to perform the threefold daily prayers (sandhya) is a Brahman in name alone. 38. A Brahman, who is given to observe the six duties of his caste, who worships the deities and hospitably receives the guests ; whose meals consist of what remains after (daily) offerings made (on the fire) , has never to suffer from misery or want. Atreya smriti 141-142 enjoins that: janmana jayate shudrah One is a Shudra by birth samskarad dvija ucyate By observing Sanskara one becomes a Dvija vedapathi bhaved viprah By studying the Vedas one becomes a Vipra brahma janati brahmanah One who knows Brahman is a Brahmana In present times all so called upper caste are in terms of Hindu Dharma devoid of samskaras and observance of dharma karyas and hence SHUDRAS.
