Mūla sāhitya (original text)Translation.



asya śrī lalitā sahasranāma stotra mālā mantrasya =This is the prayer-garland mantra named śrī lalitā sahasranāma
vaśinyādi vāgdevatā ṛṣayaḥ = vaśini and the other speech-deities are the composers
anuṣṭup chandaḥ= set to the anushtup metre
śrī lalitāparameśvarī devatā =addressed to the devi lalitā parameśvarī
śrīmad vāgbhavakūṭeti bījam vāg-bhava-kūṭa= being the seed
madhyakūṭeti śaktiḥ madhya-kūṭa= being the śaktiḥ
śaktikūṭeti kīlakam śakti-kūṭa =being the pillar
śrī lalitāmahātripurasundarī-prasāda siddhi dvārā= in order to attain the door to the grace of śrī lalitā mahā tripura sundarī
cintita phala avāptyarthe jape viniyogaḥ= the fruit of this meditation being the objective of this recitation

sindūrāruṇa-vigrahāṃ trinayanāṃ māṇikyamauli-sphurat (She with) a vermilion-red coloured form, with three eyes, sporting a crown of rubies
tārā-nāyaka-śekharāṃ smita-mukhīṃ āpīna-vakṣoruhām studded with the lord of stars (moon), with a smiling face and well endowed breast
pāṇibhyāṃ-ali-pūrṇa-ratna-caṣakaṃ raktotpalaṃ -bibhratīṃ in one hand a bejewelled cup covered by bees (full of honey), carrying a red lotus (in the other hand)
saumyāṃ ratna-ghaṭastha-raktacaraṇāṃ dhyāyet-parāmambikām gentle lady, with her reddish feet placed in a pot of precious gems -- I meditate on this highest mother
aruṇāṃ-takaruṇā-raṅgitākṣīṃ dhṛta-pāśāṅkuśa-puṣpa-bāṇa-cāpām Red in color, with eyes full of compassion, bearing a noose, goad, flower-arrow and bow
aṇimādibhir-āvṛtāṃ mayūkhair-ahamityeva-vibhāvaye-bhavānīm surrounded by aṇima and the others (siddhis), radiant, I visualize you as my own self Bhavānī
dhyāyet padmāsanasthāṃ vikasitavadanāṃ padmapatrāyatākṣīṃ I pray to the one seated on the lotus, the blooming countenance, with eyes like lotus petals
hemābhāṃ pītavastrāṃ karakalitalasad hemapadmāṃ varāṅgīm in shining golden yellow clothes, holding golden lotuses in her hand
sarvālaṅkāra yuktāṃ satatam abhayadāṃ bhaktanamrāṃ bhavānīṃ Fully adorned with decorations, and protecting at all times those devotees who bow to the mother
śrīvidyāṃ śānta mūrtiṃ sakala suranutāṃ sarva sampat pradātrīm the embodiment of divine knowledge and peace, praised by all the gods, yielder of all successes
sakuṅkuma vilepanām alikacumbi kastūrikāṃ smeared with red saffron, and a mark of musk on the forehead whose fragrance attracts bees
samanda hasitekṣaṇāṃ saśara cāpa pāśāṅkuśām with a gentle smile, holding the arrow & bow, the noose and the goad
aśeṣajana mohinīṃ aruṇa mālya bhūṣāmbarāṃ infatuating all beings, with an orange garland and bejewelled attire
japākusuma bhāsurāṃ japavidhau smared ambikām radiating the color of the red hibiscus, in my prayers make me remember your form mother.
